Pathway Prep

About me

founded on passion

As long as I can remember, I have loved helping and teaching others.

While getting my BS and MS in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University, I tutored for 15-20 hours per week in subjects ranging from college algebra to differential equations. After graduating magna cum laude, I moved back to Kansas City and began working for CRB, a consulting engineering firm specializing in pharmaceutical facility design.

I enjoyed my work as a mechanical engineer, working all across the country for well-known clients like Merck and Pfizer, but I soon felt an itch to began teaching again. In 2017, I started tutoring local high school students in math on evenings and weekends, but quickly saw the demand for test prep and refocused to specialize in the ACT.

250+ students and 4 years of side-hustling later, I finally made the move to officially found Pathway Prep in January 2021 and focus on helping students full time.

What I love most is seeing students get it. Suddenly, there is a spark that means they know what to do and it isn’t as hard as they thought. Building student confidence and reducing overwhelm is why I do what I do.

grounded in engineering

As a licensed professional engineer, my first career was based around creating plans for contractors to correctly construct buildings. I quickly learned the importance of having the right plan and communicating it clearly.

Whether it’s helping students prepare for the ACT or grasp the concept of derivatives, the fundamentals I learned from engineering directly apply to my teaching philosophy. We will focus on engineering your path.

First, we need to have a clear and correct path. My knowledge of the test structure allows us to tear down pre-existing conceptions and learn what the test is really about.  My strategies have been developed, tested, and reiterated constantly to be maximally effective.

Last, this path needs to be communicated clearly. Every student learns  differently and my strategies are flexible enough to be adapted to fit each student. We will constantly tweak, refine, and engineer until we find the perfect path for you.
